Description

Throughout much of our history, disability has been seen as something that needs to be fixed, cured, and eliminated. Treatments that were being used and seen as "best-practice" were against the person's will, inhumane, and even often without their knowledge. From the early 1900s through the 1970s, people with disabilities were labeled with words like moron, feeble-minded, and idiots and were segregated from the general public, placed into institutions and asylums, and sterilized. This course serves to introduce, bring awareness, and educate anyone who seeks knowledge and a better understanding of supporting people with disabilities.
