We all have limits and rules that we like to live by, invisible lines that characterize what actions or behaviors we will accept from others. These are known as boundaries and they can be physical, emotional, sexual, intellectual, financial, or time/space-based. They are the foundation of developing healthy relationships as they serve as protection for us and respect our well-being. A form of self-care, boundaries help to avoid burnout by combating stress, and anxiety, as well as help prevent us from taking on burdens we do not want to take on.
